Decluttering is one of the most important ways to get energy moving in your life and space. The urge to declutter can mirror your personal growth and transformation, so let’s honor that and navigate the energy and memories in our wardrobes to reveal our truest selves.

Aint this all of us?!
Confused on what to wear, feeling like I’ve worn everything to its limit and feelings so uninspired.
I have read and done Marie-Kondo every time I’ve moved. And I’ve moved pretty much every year for the last 8 years. I’ve watched hours of youtubes on decluttering. There is no perfect system for everyone but this 10 step system has been one that is working for me. It is about aligning with your own intuition similar to Marie-Kondos idea of what sparks joy - but this intuition expands to naming all of the multitudes within us that show up in our wardrobes as a way of understanding our style and giving us space to be creative.
It’s about what feels good and how we can dress like our truest selves.
This is not about buying a new wardrobe.
This is about finding our wardrobe and ourselves in what we love and who we are.
LET’S DO THIS
*DON’T FORGET TO DUPLICATE THIS TO YOUR NOTION
- [ ] Step 1: Take All Your Clothes Out
Taking our cue from Ms. Marie Kondo — Empty your closet and drawers and put everything on your bed! take it all out of your closet. Pile it on the bed, leave it on the floor, put it on the chair and the hamper. Your room might feel a bit like you’re living in an explosion for a few days but its okay. It’s all part of the process. Decluttering is kind of like a snake shedding a layer. Its got that uncomfy period where you’re changing and the skin you’re in feels too tight. ITS TIME. This will give you a better idea of how much you have and help you SEE everything.

- [ ] Step 2: Organize Clothes by Category
Learning from Miss. Kondo: organize everything into subject. Organize your clothes by category, such as pants, t-shirts, dresses, and jackets. This will make it easier to see what you have and help you identify any duplicates. (I was shocked to find I had 6 different black turtlenecks…)

- [ ] Step 3: Find Your "Hell Yes" Clothes
Set a timer for three minutes and do a shopping spree in your own closet! Grab a basket or a box or even use a chair. You’re going to go on a very fast shopping spree with your clothes that make you say HELL YES. These are the ones you would save in a fire if you had 3 minutes to grab your clothes! Go on instinct! Put on some music and treat this like a Toys R Us shopping spree for a 7 year old. These are the pieces that are going to truly reflect your personal style because you love them so much.

- [ ] Step 4: Take a Break
Get some snaxx. Take a break. Step away from your clothes and clear your mind.
